With a sigh of relief, you’ve booked the church for the wedding, found your dress, hired the florist and photographer and ordered the invitations. It’s time to move on to the reception. While the location looms as the biggest decision, once that’s determined and reserved, the detail planning sets in.
Reception planning offers a great opportunity to use those spreadsheet skills you have. And if you’ve ever wanted to burn several hours reading blogs, this too would be the time for you to grab some strong caffeine and hit the internet. Because overwhelming planning loves company, make sure you have at least one willing or bribed friend hanging out with you as you read through tips about wedding napkins (i.e. colors to avoid), wedding favors and the best-selling bridesmaid gifts.
One long-lasting idea that still works well at receptions is disposable wedding cameras. These provide entertainment and time filler if you’ll be taking pictures after the ceremony before you head to the reception. Guests busy themselves taking pictures with the disposable wedding cameras you’ve left on each table. The results tend to be unpredictable but you’re sure to find some fun candid shots of your guests taken while you’re busy.
